THE COURSE

Event Management is a field which is related to Hospitality Management, and we trust that ourexpertise in offering Hotel Management & Catering technology courses nearly two decades will greatly help us to conceptualize and run courses in Event Management successfully for the benefit of the interested students. We have realized that keeping in trend with the current developments, there is a great demand for qualified professionals in the field of Event Management. The Duration of the course is three years and successful completion of the same a student is awarded a U.G.C recognized Bachelors Degree-B.B.A (Event Management) and a Diploma in Event Management from MERIT. The Diploma will focus on areas, which are in addition to the University curriculum, keeping in mind the latest developments in the industry. The course is designed to give equal importance to both theory and practical training. In the first year students would organize an in-house event and in the third year an outdoor event. In the second year students are required to undergo practical training with Event Management companies. Besides specialized knowledge in Event Management the course also focuses on menu planning, foreign language, and also concentrates on personality development and communication skills. The course also teaches a mix of General Management and Event Management subjects.

STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE

The course is for duration of three years. During the 2nd year of the course, every student is required to undergo training in a leading organisation for a duration of 20 weeks commencing May/October every academic year. (Overseas/NRI students may train in their home country). Students have to make their own arrangements for accommodation and food during the training period. It is compulsory to have 85% attendance and a good assessment from the various department heads; this ensures that the students are adequately equipped to function efficiently in the real world.
